Jakub Jacko

Since earning his stripes in regional television Jakub has directed a variety of television programs including dozens of episodes of ‘The Cook Up with Adam Liaw’ for SBS. His passion for music television saw him enjoy a close relationship with MTV Networks Australia most recently as Executive Producer of 10 part music television series TRL 2019 as well as directing all six seasons of MTV’s The Lair since its inception in 2006 plus a host of television specials including the MTV Classic channel launch and MTV World Stage featuring Slash broadcast worldwide, several episodes of MTV Live including an ASTRA award winning episode featuring Wolfmother, regular episodes of Total Request Live and Snowjam as well as ARIA and AVMA Red Carpet specials and the MTV New Zealand channel launch special.  Jakub has notched up directing credits for live performance coverage of over 300 internationally touring artists including Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Midnight Oil, Katy Perry & Florence and the Machine.

Jakub further indulged his zeal for music television directing various episodes of Live at the Chapel, Take 40 Live, Stars of Summer and Live Lounge for MCM Entertainment, two seasons of Telstra’s pioneering multi-platform music series Monday Night Live, five seasons of ABC’s Live at the Basement and the 2006 Coca-Cola Live and Local music series as well as several World Famous Rooftop music specials for Southern Cross Austereo.  Previously Jakub was a regular freelance director for Channel [V] directing various episodes of What-U-Want, JMG, Room 208 and many live music specials. 

Jakub’s other indulgence is children’s television.  Between 2003 to 2008 he directed Disney Channel’s flagship Studio D and Nickelodeon’s Sarvo from 2005 to 2008.  From 2015 to 2018 Jakub was series director for Disney Channel Australia’s flagship afternoon studio program Hanging With. 

Jakub has worked as a director, producer and editor for various networks including Network 10, Nine, Yahoo 7, SBS, Sky News and various Foxtel channels.  He joined the teaching staff at Metro Screen as mentor for the 2012 Live Television Production scholarship.
